Canada: Professional Training Program for the Prevention of Mass Atrocities

The Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Right Studies (MIGS) at Concordia University is now accepting applications for its upcoming Professional Training Program for the Prevention of Mass Atrocities. This year the program will take place in Montreal, Canada from June 1st to June 3rd.

As in previous years, the event is tailored to mid- to senior-level professionals interested in human rights, international security, extremism, and the prevention and interdiction of mass atrocity crimes. The program will be divided into several thematic sessions presented by internationally-recognized experts. During the sessions case studies related to Syria and Iraq, confronting violent extremism, ISIS, Boko Haram, among many others will be discussed.

The complete list of speakers will be announced shortly, but we have confirmed the participation of Roméo Dallaire (MIGS), Kyle Matthews (MIGS), Naomi Kikoler (U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum), Walter Dorn (Royal Military College of Canada) and René Provost (McGill).

PROGRAM FEE

As an independent, non-profit, university-based research center, MIGS operates its professional development activities on a cost-recovery basis. For the Professional Training Program on the Prevention of Mass Atrocities, the associated participation fees are CAN $600 (plus tax, approx. 15%).

This fee includes registration costs, lunches, a networking reception, and conference materials.
